Disaster Risk Management Forum Holds Quarterly Meeting to Advance Local Resilience Efforts
Hargeisa, Somaliland
On April 5, 2025, the Disaster Risk Management (DRM) Forum held its quarterly meeting at the ALGASL office under the Danwadaag Program, which supports local governments in strengthening disaster risk management systems and interventions.
The meeting brought together key DRM stakeholders to review progress, align strategies, and set priorities for the coming quarter. Discussions focused on:
Aligning local disaster management plans with national policies and the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction.
Enhancing data sharing and early warning systems to ensure timely alerts and improved community preparedness.
Strengthening coordination among stakeholders and delivering regular capacity-building training to local authorities.
Monitoring progress through structured reporting mechanisms, including quarterly and annual reviews.
Mobilising financial support from government institutions and international development partners to sustain DRM initiatives.
Conducting annual reviews of the Forum’s Terms of Reference to ensure they remain relevant and effective.
This quarterly forum reinforces ALGASL’s and VNG International’s joint commitment to improving disaster preparedness, fostering inter-agency collaboration, and building resilience within Somaliland’s local governments and communities.
