ALGASL Strengthens Local Government Capacity with Disaster Management Training in Salaxley

Salaxley, Somaliland

April 29, 2025 – The Association of Local Government Authorities of Somaliland (ALGASL), in partnership with the Danwadaag Program, conducted a comprehensive disaster management training for the administration and staff of Salaxley District.

The training aimed to enhance the skills and knowledge of local government officials in disaster preparedness, risk assessment, emergency response, and community engagement. Participants learned practical strategies to identify hazard-prone areas, develop response plans, and coordinate effectively during emergencies.

This initiative is part of a nationwide program that will be implemented across all electoral districts in Somaliland this year, reinforcing ALGASL’s mission to empower local authorities, improve municipal services, and build resilient communities.

Through capacity-building programs like this, ALGASL ensures that local governments are well-equipped to prevent, mitigate, and respond to disasters, safeguarding residents and supporting sustainable development across Somaliland.
